Your front & rear number plates are usually fitted in one of two ways, either screwed to your vehicle or stuck to your vehicle using adhesive tabs.
FITTED WITH SCREWS
First you will need to lift the screw covers to access the screws, then remove with the appropriate screwdriver and put the screws to one side ready for your new plates.
FITTED WITH ADHESIVE TABS
In some cases, you can slowly ease the plate away from the car using all 4 corners, however in some cases it is not possible to lift the plate enough away from the car to get your hand behind it. In this instance you could try very thin wire, holding both ends tight and pull the wire from one end to the other slicing through the adhesive tape, allowing you to remove the number plate. A good rub with soapy water should remove any sticky residue left behind in preparation to fit your new plates.
Before you remove or fit new plates to your car, make sure that DVLA are kept up to date with the correct details of the plate that is being fitted/removed from your vehicle. You must also make sure that your new plates adhere to the legal ruling on number plates.
Driving a vehicle with the incorrect registration plate that does not match up with the DVLA records is an illegal offense and you could receive 3 points on your driving licence and a fine of up to £1000.
Also, make sure your insurance company is kept updated at all times.
